FAQs
What are the padel rackets and balls like?
Padel rackets are smaller than a tennis racket (more like the size of a racketball racket), but have no strings. The balls are similar to tennis balls but with slightly lower pressure.
Rackets can be hired from the bar during opening hours (from 4pm) for a small fee. Balls can also be purchased.
What is the scoring system?
The scoring is exactly the same as tennis. However it is quite common to play a ‘sudden death’ deuce.
How do I book a court?
Court booking is via the same booking system as used for tennis and squash (my.ktscc.co.uk). It is also available to non-members on a pay-and-play basis. Courts are bookable in 30 minutes slots (max 1.5 hours).
What is the cost?
For padel members (including ‘all sports’ members) the cost is £10 per hour, payable by the booker (ie £2.50 per person assuming four players). For non-members/pay-and-play, the cost is £24 per hour, again payable by the booker (ie £6 per person) .
How does payment work for guests?
If a non-member/pay-and-play member books a court there is no additional cost for guests. If a padel member books a court, there is an additional fee charged for each guest. This is calculated such that if the costs are shared appropriately each member should pay £2.50 per hour and each guest £6 per hour, (assuming four people playing).
How does fee sharing work?
If a member books a court, they can choose to share the fee with other members. The fee will then be deducted from their member account balance or, if there is insufficient credit, will be placed in their basket and will need to be paid for.
Guest fees are paid by the booker and not shared.
How do I turn on the floodlights?
There are switches on both courts to turn on the lights. They are on a ‘dusk to to dawn’ sensor so they will only come on when it is considered dark enough. The lights will automatically turn off at 10pm.
There is no cost for the lights.
What happens if I want to cancel a court?
You can cancel a court up to 12 hours before the court time and receive a full refund. If you cancel within 12 hours of the booking there will be no refund (except in the case of unexpected weather making play impossible – in which case please email info@ktscc.co.uk).
If you are uncertain of whether you want to place due to forecast bad weather, you can cancel the court 12 hours before and then re-book if you then decide you wish to play (if the court is still available).
Where can I get more details of pay-and-play membership?
